LO5 Energy systems Flashcards
What are the 3 systems?
ATP/PC,
Lactic Acid,
Aerobic.
What is ATP?
ATP stands for adenosine triphosphate.
When ATP loses a phosphate what does it become?
ADP.
How does ATP become energy?
ATP=ADP+P+energy.
What is the full stages of the ATP system?
ATP loses a P to become ADP it is resynthesiesed by PC and creatine Kinase to remove the C and add the P back.
How long after the ATP system begins does it switch to the lattice acid system?
10 seconds.
How long does the LS last?
15-180 seconds.
What is glycogen broken down into?
Short glucose chains.
What is the full LC system?
Glycogen becomes glucose which is eventually converted to pyruvic acid which is too toxic for the body so becomes Lactic acid.
How many moles of ATP are produced by the LC system?
2
