What are the types of incidents and emergencies?

A

Exposure to chemical or hazardous substances require reference to COSHH file
Some incidents require evacuation of the premises
Other accidents causing injury may require first aid treatment at the setting or an ambulance to take the individual for medical treatment in hospital

A

Carry out risk assessment to identify the level of first aid provision required
Provide appropriate first aid equipment and facilities
Train and appoint staff to first aid should employees get injurd or fall ill at work

Reporting of accidnets and incidents

A

Legal requirement to be recored and reported to HSE under RIDDOR
Good practice to record all accidents as this can inform future risk assessments in order to improve future safety standards
Other incidents such as an aggressive/ drunken encounter, police will need to be informed for safeguarding issue, social services
Floods and loss of water supply need to be reported to the water board or if there’s a leak plumbing services will be needed

A

Could be due to individuals being under the influence of alcohol or drugs or having mental health issues
