Illegally accesses a computer system or network in order to spread politically/socially motivated views
What does a cyber criminal do and what are the motivations behind said actions?
Use computers to perform malicious activities for financial gain, to commit espionage or to generally create havoc
What are two examples of a crime a cyber criminal may commit?
Identity/data theft
Spreading viruses
What does an insider do and what are the motivations behind said actions?
Obtains and distributes information of an organisation that harms said organisation’s finances, reputation or both
What does a script kiddie do and what are the motivations behind said actions?
Uses pre-existing computer scripts or code to hack into and typically deface websites typically for the thrill of it
What does a vulnerability broker do and what are the motivations behind said actions?
Finds bugs in programs and systems of a company in order to sell to others or to the companies concerned for financial gain
What do scammers do and what are the motivations behind said actions?
Offer false goods or opportunities over email by including malicious links that compromise and individuals personal information that can be exploited for financial gain or identity fraud
What do phishers do and what are the motivations behind said actions?
Obtaining sensitive personal information with malicious intent via false links over email
What are two examples of malicious intent that a phisher will commit?
Intellectual theft
Stealing credit card details
What do cyber terrorists do and what are the motivations behind said actions?
Use computers and communication systems to cause fear/intimidation in a society through the destruction of or damage to people, property and systems in order to intimidate society into changing for the purpose of an ideological goal or righting perceived wrongs
