DICRIMINTORY PRACTICES
DEFINE direct discrimination
treated differently and worse than someone else for certain reasons (deliberate)
when a person treats, or proposes to treat, someone unfavourably because of a personal characteristic, their background.

DEFINE indirect discrimination
when there’s a practice, policy or rule which applies to everyone in the same way but it has a worse effect on some people than others. (accidental or unintentional)

STATE the different types of abuse
physical - occurs when someone causes physical pain or threatens to hurt an individual
verbal - name calling, insults or swearing to try an humiliate someone or reduce their dignity or security
neglect - basic needs for warmth, food, clean clothing are not met
psychological - emotional abuse like threats and constant criticism
sexual - unwanted sexual contact

when someone has a negative attitude towards or unfair dislike of an individual or a group of people

making judgments about individuals or groups of people based on prejudice - making unfair assumptions of people with certain characteristics are all the same

identifying people negatively as part of a particular group

a range of negative behaviours that can intimidate or harm individuals
