What is the definition of safeguarding?
Safeguarding involves promoting human rights,needs and interests of adults,young children and young people aswell as protecting them from harm and abuse
What is abuse of a child?
A form of maltreatment of a chid such as somebody abusing or neglecting a child by failing to prevent harm
What is abuse of a older person?
A single or repeated act or lack of appropriate action,occuring in any relationship where there is an expectation of trust,which causes harm or distress to an older person.

What are the signs of physical abuse?
-Unexplained injuries that are the shape of objects
-fingerprints

-Individual becomes anxious
-fearful in presence of the abuser and less confident
What are the signs of sexual abuse?
-Bruises
-scratches
-soreness or bleeding around gential and rectal areas
What are the symptoms of sexual abuse?
-Individual becomes withdrawn,anxious,aggresive
What are the signs of psychological abuse?
-Avoid making eye contact
-Being fearful and anxious
What are the symptoms of psychological abuse?
-Individual displays changes in eating and sleeping and has a low esteem
What are the signs of Neglect?
-Poor standards of care that don’t meet the individuals needs

-Involves an individual becoming anxious and depressed
What are the signs of Financial abuse?
-Unexplained lack of money, sudden debts and unpaid bills

- Individual becoming anxious over money and increase in talking about the inability to pay bills

-Poor working practices and low standards of care and support
