Name the 9 types of hazard and give examples for each
- Environmental- worn/damaged equipment, slippery floors, poor lighting
- Biological- medical or body waste products not being disposed of
- Psychological- stress, fatigue, bullying in the work place
- Physical- loud noise, radiation
- Chemical- cleaning products, medications
- Musculoskeletal- manual handling of equipment, display screen equipment
- Working conditions- temperature, travel, noise levels high
- Working practice- long work hours, lack of supervision and training
- Lack of security- door locks, alarm systems, cctv
Give examples of hazardous activities
• Assisting someone out of a wheelchair
• Cleaning - chemical cleaning materials; noisy vacuum cleaners

Poor standards of care examples

The impacts of poor standards of care on individuals who require care or support:
• Bed sores and pressure ulcers
• Bruising due to poor handling
• Dehydration
• Illness gets worse
• Malnutrition.

• Headaches
• High blood pressure
• Infections
• Mental health - anxiety, depression, disempowerment, burnout

• Back injuries, slipped disc, injured muscles, musculoskeletal damage

• Fractures - arm, leg, collarbone, ankle, ribs
