Living Things Thing And Cells Flashcards
Organisms
Living things
MRSFERG
M=movement R=respiration S=sensitivity F=feeding E=excretion R=reproduction G=growth
Movement
Animals can move from place to place
Plants do not move, they move when they grow or a flower opens and closes its petals
Respiration😔✌️
Respiration is the way living things get energy. They take in oxygen and mix it with food to get energy🤫
Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the ability to react to changes in the environment. Animals will away from danger, a plant will grow towards light
Feeding
Animals do not make their own food. They get their food by eating other plants and other animals. Plants make their own food
Photosynthesis
The way in which plant make it is called photosynthesis. To make food they need a greed dye called chlorophyll this is why plants are green
Excretion is the removal of waste made in the body from the body. Animals create carbon dioxide water, urea and salts
Reproduction is being able to make new individuals of the same kind eg babies new plants puppies
Growth results from cell division
Cell membrane
Very thin layer that
surrounds the cell.
Holds cell contents
in place and controls
what passes into and
out of the cell.
Nucleus
is
normally round. It
acts as the control
centre of the cell. It
has the DNA.
Cytoplasm
The
watery liquid found
between the nucleus
and the cell
membrane.
Mitochondria
Supply energy to the cell
Cell wall
Found
outside the cell
membrane of a plant
cell. Gives strength
to the cell.
Vacuole
space
containing water,
sugar and wastes
gives strength to the cells
Chloroplasts
