Q
3 general metabolic functions of liver
A
Carbohydrate, fat, protein metabolism
2
Q
Carbohydrate metabolism
A
- maintains blood glucose
- glycogen-> glucose (utilization)
- glucose -> glycogen (storage)
3
Q
Protein metabolism
A
- protein -> AA (energy/fat/carbs)
- detox ammonia from gut
4
Q
All general liver functions
A
- carb metabolism
- fat metabolism
- protein metabolism
- synthesis (albumin, globulins, clotting factors, bile)
- storage (Fe, Cu, glycogen)
- enzymes detox & metabolize
5
Q
Kuppfer cells
A
- destory RBCs and WBCS
- Hgb -> bilirubin from old red blood cells
- store excess iron

Q
Clin path changes that occurs in liver dz
A
Increased: liver enzymes, bilirubin, bile acids, blood ammonia, protein(globulins)
Decreased: blood glucose, protein(albumins), clotting factors
Platelet dysfunction
