The reason which something exists or is done.
Metaphor
Figure of speech in comparison without using like or as.
Contrast
To compare in order to show unlikeness pr differences.
Flashback
A device in a narrative where scenes from the past is inserted into the chronological order of the story
Foreshadowing
To show or indicate beforehand.
Irony
The use of words to convey a meaning that is opposite of its critical meaning.
Monologue
A prolonged talk or discourse by a single speaker.
Soliloquy
A discourse by a person who is talking to their self

Away from ones thoughts or consideration
Diction
Style of speaking or writing as dependent upon choice of words.
Dialogue
conversation between two or more syllables.
