The action of a story that is usually made up of a series of events
PLOT
Character descriptions like the characters’ appearance, things characters say, or things other characters say about them, are all ways we understand what a character is like.
CHARACTERIZATION
A book that is not a true story

CLIMAX
The point of highest dramatic tension or a major turning point
A struggle between opposing forces, such as two people fighting or the problem in the story.
CONFLICT
The person who is telling the story.
NARRATOR
An exageration or overstatement
Hyperbole
Giving human qualities to animals or nonliving objects.
Personification
Giving hints as to what will come next or later in the story.
Foreshadowing
A struggle where a character must survive the elements of nature.
MAN VS. NATURE ( Type of conflict)
The symbolic struggle from a man versus himself takes place anytime a difficult choice must be made.
Man vs. Self (Type of conflict)
Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs.
