Biography
A written account of another person’s life
Connecting
The idea of relating content of the story to your own knowledge or experience.
Foreshadow
To show or indicate beforehand.
Antagonist and protagonist
The protagonist is the main character or hero of a story. The antagonist is the protagonists opponent. The antagonist is usually a character but can also be a force of nature or an obstacle. R
Plot
A plot is made up of events that can be divided into rising action climax and falling action. The rising action develops as the main character encounters conflicts. Rising action leads to the climax or turning point of the story.
Main idea
The most important point in a paragraph or story. It is usually stated in the topic sentence or thesis. It has supporting details that relate to the main idea.
Simile
A comparison using like or as
Metaphor
A comparison that does not use like or as
Point of view
The perspective in which a story is told
Idiom
A language, dialect, or style of speaking
Irony
The use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meanings
Authors purpose
The author putting moments of their life into the story
Character motivation
Actions, feelings, or moments that make the character do what it does
Flashback
A scene fro an earlier time that interrupts the ongoing action of the story.
