Irony
The use of words to convey a meaning that is opposite of its literal meaning
Narrator
The person who tells the story or events
Plot

Figure of speech that makes a comparison between two unlike things, using the words like or as
Metaphor
A figure of speech that makes a comparison between two unlike things, in which one thing become another thing without the use of words like and as
Rising action
A series of related events building toward the point of greatest interest (climax)
Antagonist
The person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something
Falling action
The part of the story after the climax and before the very end
Protagonist
The leading character hero or heroine of a drama or other literary work
Climax
The exciting or tense moment usually toward the end of the story where we realize what the outcome of the conflict will be
Figurative language
Saying something other than what is literally meant for effect. Figurative devices are metaphors , similes, symbol, hyperbole, personification
Setting
The time and place of a story or play
Personification
Special kind of metaphor in which a nonhuman thing or quality is talked about as if they were human
Conflict
A struggle or clash between opposing characters or between opposing forces
