A written account of another persons life written by someone else
Biography
Why the character acts, feels, or thinks a certain way
Character motivation
The idea of relating the content of a story to your own knowledge or experience
Connecting
A scene from an earlier time that interrupts the ongoing action of a story
Flashback
To show or indicate beforehand;to give a glimpse of what may happen in the future
Foreshadowing
Descriptive words or phrases that appeal to the readers five senses.
Imagery
A contrast of contradiction between what is stated and what is meant between what is expected and what actually happens
Irony
The most important point in a paragraph or story. It is usually stated in the topic sentence or thesis
Main idea
The perspective from which a story is told to the readers or listeners. It influences the way readers perceive the account.
Point of view
Time location and cultural customs in the story
Setting
The message, moral or meaning
Theme
The authors attitudes, beliefs, heritage, and traditions are often reflected in his writing. These become especially cleat in nonfiction and particularly in memoir, where the author is writing directly about his life or background.
