Characterization
The method in which the author develops a character. This includes the character’s thoughts, words, and actions, and what the narrator and other characters say about him/her or it.
Protagonist
The central character or hero can be a bad guy
Anatagonist
A person or force that opposes the protagonist causes the main conflict
Setting
The time and place in which a story takes place
Plot
The structure of a story (events that make up a story
Exposition
The basic background information is revealed
Rising Action
Conflicts develop
Climax
The turning point of a story; interest and intensity are at its peak
Falling Action
Events that occur after the climax
Resolution
Conflicts are resolved the way thing are going to be from now
Theme
The main moral or message of a piece of literature, what we learn about life from reading

With in a character’s own mind- a personal conflict man vs. self
External
A problem a character faces with an outside force
Man vs. man (with another character)
Man vs. nature (ex: weather, flood)
Man vs. society (a group)
Point of view
The perspective from which a story is told (narrated) the “voice” telling the story
