Dialect
Variety of a language found in a particular region of the world or in a certain class of people
Point of view (definition 1)
The person telling the story’s perspective
Clue words-
*first person ( I or we )
*second person ( you )
*third person ( he, she, it, one, or they )
Point of view (definition 2)
A character or persons way of thinking
Foreshadowing
The use of clues to hint at what is going to happen
Plot
The series of related events that make up a story
Climax
The highest point of interest or excitement; the final and strongest idea or event in a series
Rising action
In a story, all of the events that lead up to the turning point.
Falling action
After the climax, the action falls
Turning point
Place in the story where the story takes another direction
Diction
A writers choice of words
Anecdote
A brief story about an interesting, amusing, or strange event; usually told to entertain or make a point
Imagery
Writing which creates a picture in the readers mind
Simile.
Compare two different things using like or as
Metaphor
Compares without using like or as
Mood
Emotional state of mind; how you feel about someone or something ( happy, sad, depressed etc. )
