rival of protagonist that causes conflict

foreshadowing
hint in beginning about something unpleasant that will happen later
dialogue
form of written spoken conversation/exchange between 2 or more characters
Fiction
an imaginary story that can not take place in real life
genre
a categorization of novels into groups by the materials they contain
imagery
figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in a way that appeals to your physical sense
personification
giving inanimate objects humanlike characteristics
plot
the timeline of what goes on throughout the story
