Indirect Characterization
The author shows the characters personality through his/her actions, thoughts, feelings, words, appearance, or through another character’s observations and relations
Direct Characterization
The author directly states a characters traits
Mood
The atmosphere or main emotion in a literary work
Foreshadowing
The use of hints or clues in a narrative to suggest future action
Theme
The central message of a literary work. It is expressed as a sentence or general statement about life or human nature
Ex: Live can conquer the greater evil, always be true to your beliefs
Suspense
The quality of a work that makes the reader of audience uncertain or tense about the outcome of events
