Antagonist
A character or group that stand in opposition to the protagonist or the main character.
Connotation
A meaning that is implied by a word apart from the thing it describes explicitly.
Denotation
Literal or dictionary meaning of words.
Flashback
Interruptions where the author goes back to past events in order to give insight.
Foreshadowing
A writer gives a hint of what is to come later in the story.
Inference
A conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
Mood
A literary element that evokes certain emotion or videos in readers through descriptions and words, Atmosphere.
Plot
The events that make up a story or the main part of the story.
Point of View
Who tells the story
First person
Involves the use of either of the two pronouns “I” and “we”. Main character tells story.
2nd person
Uses pronoun “you”
3rd person
Narrator tells story
Protagonist
The main character.
Style
The authors unique way of writing.
Symbolism
An object representing another to give it an entirely different meaning that is much deeper and more significant.
