The technique the reader uses to convey the reader.
Symbol
Character or topic used to represent what the author is trying to show.
Theme
The lesson the author is trying to write
Inference
Conclusion reached on based off of evidence and reasoning.
Parallelism
Construction in the way the text is written.
Repetition
Repeating of words or phrases.
Text Structure
How the author organize the info in the text.
Simile
Comparing two things using like or as.
Supporting Textual Evidence
Evidence in the text that helps you proved your point.
Metaphor
Comparing two things, making it a statement.
Verb
Words that show action or being.
Adjective
Discrables a verb or an adverb.
Preposition
A group of words used to show direction, time, place or location of a noun or a pronoun.
Subject
The main point of the text or sentence.
Prepositional Phrase
Phrase includes the object in the sentence referring to the subject.
Simple Sentence
Only one cause single subject and predicate.
Compound Sentence
Sentence with more than one subject or predicate.
Claim/Point of View
The way the author wrote the story or text.
Mood
The emotion of the text.
Ex: Depressing -Suspense/Suspenseful.
Foreshadowing
The author says a phrase that may happen later on in the text.
Ex:“I told myself this is the end of my trouble, but I didn’t believe myself.”
Extended Metaphor
A metaphor that extends over multiple lines in the text.
Ex:
Pace
The speed at the story is told at.
Ex: The timeline or the descriptions.
Author´s Tone
The author’s tone toward the written subject.
Ex: Sad, happy, scary.
