Literary Techniques - Paper 1 Flashcards
Personification
Personification is a literary technique in which human qualities or characteristics are attributed to non-human entities, such as animals, objects, or ideas. Personification gives human-like traits to inanimate objects, making them more relatable and understandable to readers. By doing so, it can also convey complex ideas or emotions more effectively.
Anthropomorphism
Anthropomorphism is a literary technique in which human-like characteristics, behaviors, and emotions are attributed to non-human entities such as animals, objects, or natural phenomena. Unlike personification, which gives human qualities to non-human things, anthropomorphism goes further by creating a character that is essentially a human being in non-human form.
