Alliteration
A sequence of words together that start with the same letter.
Emotive Language
Writing to make the reader feel emotion, causing the text to leave a bigger impact.
Group of three
This is sometimes knows as a list of three words or phrases put together.
Direct Address
Including words like you, I and we to make the reader feel included.
Simile
A technique that compares one thing with another, usually using ‘as’ or ‘like’.
Rhetorical Question
Including a question that isn’t intended to be answered but to make the reader think.
Oxymoron
A phrase that includes words that contradict each other by being right next to each other.
Anthropomorphism
Giving an object human characteristics
Pathetic Fallacy
Where the emotions or themes of the topic are set with links to the weather.
Metaphor
Naming something as a different thing to create effect.
Hyperbole
Exaggeration is used to get a point across or help the reader understand.
Imperative Command
Give instructions with a slight force.
Statistics and Figures
These are facts which will give confirmation to the reader and get them to understand or believe the point more.
Opinion
Giving an opinion could influence the reader to agree with you.
Formal Language
This would make the reader more interested in the persuasive point and shows professionalism.
