What is the difference between internal and external conflict?
Internal: occurs within a person experiencing opposing ideas
External: between characters or a character and force of nature

What is setting?

A character’s reason for saying or doing something
What is point of view and what are the types?
The perspective from which the author wrote the story
- first person: when the story is told by one of the characters in it
- third person limited: the narrator relates the events from the point of view of only one of the characters
- third person omniscient: the narrator is all-seeing and all-knowing and tells us things that the characters in the story don’t know
What is the theme?
The general idea in life that the story presents
What are factors of the setting?
- physical location
- culture
- historical context
What is irony?
A contrast between an expected outcome and the actual outcome
Georg and Ulrich hate each other because Georg hunts on Ulrich’s land, they meet in the woods, tree falls on them, become friends, “wolves” come after them while stuck under tree
Interlopers
Montressor tells Fortunado that he has Amontillado in the catacombs. Fortunado, being drunk, wanted the wine and therefore went down to the catacombs with Montressor. Montressor buried Fortunado in the catacombs alive.

An unnamed man brings the corpse of his friend with him on a train and gets the box mixed up with a box of guns. Limburger cheese is placed on the train, causing a horrendous smell which then causes the train ride to be terrible
Invalids story
A man hears about a business that hires red-heads to copy the encyclopedia for a lot of money. Mr. Wilson’s assistant, Spaulding, digs an underground tunnel to a bank nearby the business Wilson originally owned. Spaulding started the fake business of red-heads to distract Wilson from the crime.
