What is setting
It is where the story takes place, and when it takea
What is resolution
It is the solution to the problem in the story
What is introduction / exposition
we learn who the characters are, where the story takes place and the goals of the protagonist
What is rising action
It is when we see the protagonist starts trying to accomplish their goal. We also find out the main problem for the first time.
What is climax
It is when we learn if the problem the protagonist is facing , will be solved. It is the main action of the story is directly related to the conflict
What is falling action
It occurs immediately after the climax has been resolved, where the story’s pace slows down. Their could be after effects of the climax
What is person vs self
Its a kind of conflict inside the mind of a character . Which could be decisions , personal dilemmas or tragic flaws.
What is person vs nature
it is a conflict where a character is against nature like bears , tornadoes
What is person vs person
It is a conflict where the protagonist is going against the antagonist.
What is person vs supernatural
It is a conflict where a person is against someone with superpowers or ghosts.
What is person vs society
Its a conflict where a person is against a group of people.
What is person vs technology
It is a conflict where a person is against robots .
What is theme
The theme is the main idea of the story. it is also the reason why the author wrote the story. It is a message the author wants the audience to understand.
What is a protagonist
The protagonist is the main character
What is a antagonist
Its a person who is against the protagonist
What are major characters
They dominate the story and are important for the development of plot . They move the story forward
What are stock/ stereotypical characters
They are characters that the author doesn’t say much about. Since we have encountered them in other books and real life. Like the high school bully.
What is a round character
Round characters have various characteristics and traits.
What is a flat character
They support the main character and don’t go through a substantial growth or transformation through out the story . Which makes them seem stereotypical. But often referred as on or two dimensional characters.
What is a dynamic character
These type of characters evolve or mature throughout the story. They ae not the same by the end. Like the Grinch as an example
What is a static character
They do not change much throughout the story and their ideologies and beliefs remain the same.
What is a hero
A hero is someone who embodies characteristics their society values , they overcome obstacles , sets a god example and posses a greater skill than everyone else
What is classical hero
It is a Archetypal characters that follow a literary pattern , posses supernatural strength and enjoys great success and rewards.
What is a modern hero
their better rounded characters they can be unpredictable , don’t have supernatural abilities of any kind and they may not accomplish their goal be rewarded by society.
