Dramactic irony
When the audience knows whats happening but not the charecters
Irony
The expression of ones meaning by using languague that ussually signifies the opposite
Situational irony
When actions have an opposite affect that it was intented for
Verbal irony
A person says or writes something but means another
Simile
A figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another.
Metaphor
Figure of speech where a word or phrase is applied to an object
Allusion
To call something to mind without mentioning it
Personification
Giving human attributes to something non human
Foil
A charecter who contrasts with another charecter
Motif
A reccuring theme or verbal pattern in a single text
Theme
Central topic or idea
Fable
Short story, typically with animals as charecters
Allegory
The showing of a hidden idea in a story
Tragedy
An event causing great suffering
Tagic flaw
