Indirect Characterization
-The author shows the reader what characters are like through their thoughts, their speech, their actions, and the reactions of other characters to them.

-The author tells the reader what characters are like through description.
Figurative Language
is any language that is not intended to be interpreted in a strict, literal

Uses comparative language such as “like” or “as”
CHARACTERIZATION
CHARACTERIZATION IS THE WAY IN WHICH THE AUTHOR LETS THE READER KNOW WHAT THE INDIVIDUALS IN A STORY ARE LIKE. THERE ARE TWO MAIN TYPES OF CHARACTERIZATION:
Character VS Character
CHARACTER VS CHARACTER ONE CHARACTER CAUSES A PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER CHARACTER THAT HURTS OR UPSETS HIM/HER
metaphor
-Comparing to unlike things without using like or as
conflict
when the Character faces a problem
Character VS nature
When whether or an animal creates a problem for the character
Character Vs Self
When the character is having a tough decision/problem that they have to deal with
Character VS society
When the character has to face a group of people
flashback/memory moment
takes the reader back from where the point of the story is.

when the author place a person in a concept, place, or Idea next to the author

an atmosphere or a major emotion that a story arouse in the reader
