bias
prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
central idea
the most important central thought in a piece of writing; the theme
language/diction
-how a writer uses descriptive words like using similes, metaphors, and imagery
simile
-a comparison using like or as
metaphor

imagery-

perspective

purpose
-One’s intention or objective in a speech or piece of writing.
speaker-
the person thought to be speaking, thinking, or writing in a piece of literature
argument-
a statement backed by evidence
tone-
the attitude of the writer toward a subject that is generally conveyed through his/her choice of words (diction) or their viewpoint

the position taken on an issue, the beliefs held about something
text structure-
how information is organized in a piece of writing; it could be main idea followed by details; cause and then the effects; problem and then the solution; time order sequence; using captions, graphics, maps, special print, subtitles
