Antithesis
A person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else: black and white
Conflict
Serious disagreement or argument: conflict between sexes
Internal Conflict
In the mind of someone, conflict physiologically: hamlets inaction is caused by internal conflict
External Conflict
Struggle between person and outside force: Macbeth and Macduff
Didactic
Intended for instruction: Advice to a girl
Anastrophe
The inversion of the usual order of words or clauses: ‘Powerful you have become; the dark side I sense in you.’
Epistrophe
Repetition of words at the end of successive clauses:
Five years have passed;
Five summers, with the length of
Five long winters! and again I hear these waters…
Foil
Character that contrast the characteristics of another character: Dr.Jekyl and Mr.Hyde
