DEFINITION: A predicate nominative or predicate noun completes a linking verb and renames the subject. It is a complement or completer because it completes the verb. Predicate nominatives complete only linking verbs.
Predicate Nom.
DEFINITION: There are many kinds of adjectives, but perhaps one of the most difficult to explain is the predicate adjective. Sometimes, these adjectives are called subject complements.
Predicate Adj.
DEFINITION: ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one’s cause or to damage an opposing cause; also : a public action having such an effect
Propaganda
DEFINITION: a subordinate clause that functions as an adverb within a main clause.
Adverb Clause
DEFINITION: Introductory clauses are dependent clauses which are found at the beginning of the sentence (although they can be moved to the end of the sentence, too, without confusing the meaning of the sentence).
Introductory Clause
DEFINITION: a way in which something is usually done, especially within a particular area or activity.
Convention
DEFINITION: a category used in the classification of pronouns, possessive determiners, and verb forms, according to whether they indicate the speaker first person.
POV- First Person
DEFINITION: Third person limited means a character outside of the story tells the story, but only says the story and what people say.
POV- Third Person
DEFINITION: storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story, as opposed to third person limited, which adheres closely to one character’s perspective.
POV- Third Person Omniscient
