Q

Why do some objects sink and some objects float? Advanced

A

When an object is in a liquid, the particles of the liquid will collide with the object, the particles at the bottom of the liquid will collide with more force, ultimately making the resultant force up which is known as the upthrust force. What determines if an object will float is the weight of the object as that acts against the upthrust force.
