Q

What poems could you link with “Love’s Philosophy” by Percy Bysshe Shelley and why?

A
  • Porphyria’s Lover- both about longing and desire in relationships BUT love’s philosophy is persuasive and adresses target often whereas in PL, is passive and the woman’s voice is never heard
  • Sonnet 29- both use natural imagery as a metaphor for romantic love, are short and intense showing intense emotions of speakers BUT S29 realises the error in her ways and ends in togetherness whereas LP has no turning point and just continues the speaker’s lust, ending in them still not together (rhetorical question shows this)
