when a text uses symbols to represent a stereotype/ group/ individual relevant to real life to inflict a true deeper meaning.

making a reference to an outside extract to better emphasise a point.
allusion - most are used in metaphors
eg, to my dog, my neighbourhood was like the Garden of Eden. - biblical allusion
when similar vowel sounds are used several times.
assonance
when similar consonant sounds are repeated several times

when a ‘hissing sound’ is repeated several times
sibilance
hard sounds
plosive
