Linear Algebra Flashcards
When do you use substitution method?
use it when you can easily substitute a variable in an equation that don’t result in fractions
When the product of two integers is 1?
either both are 1 or -1
what the zero product property?
if the product of two quantities is equal to zero, then at least one quantity = zero
a^2 - b^2
(a+b)(a-b)
x^2-kx-16 = 0, how do you find k?
if we know at least one factor for the eq, then we can find k
equation trap: when there is a quadratic eq present, what you should not assume?
do not assume a quadratic eq will always contain two unique values or one unique value
equation trap: can you assume the value of a variable cannot be zero if its not specified explicitly?
NO
equation trap: is one equation sufficient to find unique values for two variables?
YES
equation trap: is one equation sufficient to find unique values for two variables?
YES
equation trap: when you are asked to find the value of an expression like x+y, what you should not assume?
you do not have to know individual values within the expression to calculate the expression value
equation trap: can an equation have three or more solutions?
YES
