Q

Destination Alternate is required

A

+_ 1 hour of estimated time of arrival, wx is forecasted to be less than 2000 ceiling AND 3 SM visibility (123 rule)

Crosswind greater than 25 kits forecasts for runway planned to be used at destination

NIL braking action report at destination

Accumulation of water snow or slush on the runways at a rate that the maximum permissible depth for landing may be exceeded (CRJ only)

23
Q

A second destination alt is required ( marginal wx)

A

If wx at your dest

24
Q

Choosing an Alt. (Takeoff or destination)

A

Check airport chart to verify filing as alternate allowed.

Determine alternate wx minimums using the “One Navaid/ two Navaid table” as applicable.

One nav aid facility providing straight in approach:

Ceiling add 400 to MDA
VIS. Add 1 SM to approach visibility landing min

Two separate nav facilities providing approaches to two different runway numbers providing straight in approaches:

Ceiling add 200 to MDA
Visibility add 1/2 SM to higher visibility landing min of two approaches

Note: alt. WX requirements are based on ETA at alt.

25
Q

Exemption 3585. (17347)

A

Allows us to dispatch to our destination when conditional language in either the destination or alt. Forecast remarks section indicates wx could be below required wx minimums . The main body of the destination and all alt. Wx forecasts MUST indicate wx will be AT or ABOVE the required wx mins. The following will apply when dispatched using exemption.

1 additional alt airport must be listed

Destination wx remarks section of forecast indicates wx will be > 1/2 of the lowest minimum Vis of the expected approach at your destination
