Definition of icing conditions (ground and takeoff)
RAT 6 c or below and visible moisture in any form is present (such as clouds, fog with visibility one mile or less, rain, snow, sleet, and ice crystals)
RAT 6c or below when operating on ramps, taxiways, or runways where surface snow, standing water, or slush may be ingested by the engines or freeze on the engines, nacelles, or engine sensor probes.
RAT 6c or below and the temperature - dew point spread is 3c or less.
Note: One engine taxi is authorized if no significant precipitation (snow, sleet, or freezing rain) is occurring that could adhere to or collect in the engine inlet.
Definition of icing conditions (in flight)
RAT 6c or less and visible moisture is present in any form (such as clouds, rain, snow, sleet, and ice crystals)
When engine anti ice must be used (ground/takeoff/flight)
Engine anti-ice system must be on when icing conditions exist or are anticipated.
Air foil anti ice should be used….
in flight when icing conditions exist or are anticipated.
Air foil anti-ice limitations
-Do not use until reaching 1000’ AFL after takeoff
-Minimum duct pressure is 20 psi
-Operating in flight maintain sufficient thrust to keep associated “ICE PROTECT TEMP LOW” light extinguished.
Application of “Tail De-ice” is required:
—Once every 20 minutes
–One minute prior to extending landing flaps
–After leaving icing conditions, prior to turning system off.
Maximum brake temp for Takeoff
205c
Maximum tire speed
195 kts
