IR FAULT LIGHT
- FLASHING…ATT & HDG may be recoverable
- STEADY…IR not recoverable
ON BAT LIGHT
- aircraft batteries powering one or more ADIRU (horn will sound when on grnd)
- briefly during the beginning of a full alignment, 5 sec’s
IR ALIGN LIGHTS
- FLASHING…Alignment Fault:
- aircraft moved during alignment
- no ppos entered within 10 mins of NAV selection
- 1° difference LAT/LONG (memory)
ADR P/B
- FAULT…Failure of the Air Data Reference unit
- OFF…ADR is disconnected
GEN 1 LINE P/B
- OFF…GEN 1 Line contactor opens, #1 fuel pump in each wing is fed by GEN 1 feeder, GEN 2 pwrs AC Bus 1 via Bus Tie
Contactors - SMOKE…smoke is detected in the avionics ventilation duct
RAT/EMERG GEN FAULT LIGHT
- emergency gen is not supplying power(EME PWR CONFIG) when AC BUS 1&2 are not powered
MAN ON P/B
- AUTO… RAT extends if AC BUS 1&2 not powered and airspeed > 100k
- MAN ON…RAT manually extended for EMERG GEN coupling
TERR P/B
- FAULT…Terrain (enhanced mode) failed, does not affect basic GPWS
- OFF….EGPWS functions disabled
SYS P/B (GPWS)
- OFF…GPWS warnings are inhibited except TERR mode
- FAULT…GPWS failure (Modes 1 thru 5)
Mode 1 = Excessive descent rate “Sink Rate”
Mode 2 = Excessive terrain closure “Terrain, Terrain”
Mode 3 = Altitude loss after T/O “Don’t Sink”
Mode 4 = Unsafe terrain clearance “Too Low Flaps”
Mode 5 = Excessive GS deviation “Glideslope”
G/S MODE P/B
- OFF…Mode 5 (glideslope) warning is inhibited
FLAP MODE P/B
- OFF…Mode 4 warnings for Flaps inhibited - Unsafe terrain clearance…“Too Low Flaps”
LDG FLAP 3 P/B
- ON…Mode 4 warnings for Flaps 3 are inhibited,
- Mode 4 = Unsafe Terrain Clearance…..”Too Low Flaps”
RCDR GND CTL P/B
- AUTO…CVR & DFDR energized automatically:
1. For 5 mins after initial aircraft power up
2. After an engine is started
3. Remain powered 5 mins after engine shutdown - ON…….CVR & DFDR energized, ON lt out after ENG strt

ENG FIRE P/B
-ILLUMINATED…Dual gas loops in Pylon Nacelle, Fan & Core. Losing both loops within 5 secs = Fire Warning
- PUSH…1. Cancels aural warning
2. Arms squibs
3. Closes LP fuel valve & IDG cooling return line
4. Closes Hyd fire valve
5. Closes Bleed valve
6. Closes Pack valve
7. Deactivates GEN & Cuts off FADEC pwr supply
APU FIRE P/B
-ILLUMINATED…Dual gas loops in APU compartment, on ground auto shutdown & discharge of fire bottle in 3 secs (ext. Horn)

FUEL PUMP P/B (wing tk)
-ON…Activated, pump pressure derated for center tank pumps, suction valves for gravity feed
Note: Outer tanks spill valves to Inner tanks when either < 1650 lbs

MODE SEL P/B (CTR FUEL):
-AUTO: Pumps will run for 2 mins after eng start or when slats retracted.
Commanded off: 1. 5 mins after CTR tank low level
2. Inner tk overfill sensed from IDG cooling (flow to outer spill “pipe” to inner) Off until 1100 lbs burned from its associated Inner tk
- MAN: CTR pumps manually controlled
- FAULT: CTR tank >550 lbs & either wing <11000 lbs
CTR TK P/B
- ON: Armed when MODE SEL in AUTO, run if MODE SEL in MAN
- OFF: Pump deactivated
- FAULT: Low pressure
BAT P/B
- AUTO…Batteries connected to DC BAT bus when:
1. On ground with no other pwr source
2. APU starting(Master Sw)
3. Below 100k emer elect config
4. Below 26.5v, to allow BAT charge - OFF…BAT contactors (BCL) open
- FAULT…BCL’s open abnormal charge current
COMMERCIAL P/B:
ON: •Cabin and cargo lights •Water and toilet system •Drain mast ice protection •Galley
OFF: de-powered
GALLEY & CAB P/B
- AUTO…1. Main & secondary galley buses pwrd
2. Main galley bus shed when 1 GEN operating in Flt (1 ENG gen grnd) - OFF…Main & Secondary buses not pwrd
- FAULT…Load of any one GEN >100%
IDG P/B
-FAULT…IDG high oil temp or low oil press, IDG will disconnect p/b pressed
for 3 secs (ENG turning)
GEN P/B
-ON…Field energized, GLC armed to close
- OFF…1. GEN field de-energized
2. GLC opens
3. Fault circuit reset
- Note: if differential fault, only 1 reset attempt possible
-FAULT…Opens GLC
APU GEN P/B
- ON: gen field is energized & line contactor armed to close
- OFF: Gen field is de-energized, line contactor opens & fault circuit is reset
-FAULT: Line contactor trip open
Inhibited = APU speed too low or during EXT pwr/eng gen change over
BUS TIE P/B
-AUTO: BTC’s open/close to maintain pwr AC buses 1&2
One contactor closed w/eng gen powering its AC Bus & APU or EXT the other AC Bus
Both contactors will close for a single AC power source
-OFF: Both contactors open (APU & EXT isolated)
AC ESS FEED
- NORMAL…AC ESS Bus pwrd from AC Bus 1
- ALTN…AC ESS Bus pwrd from AC Bus 2
- FAULT…AC ESS Bus not being pwrd
Note: Eme pwr config= Eme Gen, or Static Inverter via Bat 1
PACK FLOW SELECTOR
-LO: < 115 pax (80%) ECON: < 140 (A321)
Note: If demand not being met, flow auto increase to NORM
- NORM: 100%
- HI: Hot & humid (120%)
Note: Auto to HI (regardless sel position) w/1 pack off, APU bleed on
TEMP CONTROLLER:
COLD-64°/MID-76°/HOT-86°
-Controls temp via Zone Controller & trim valves
- ZC has primary & secondary channels:
- Primary fails= trim valves close, secondary will provide zone temp 76°
- Secondary fails= no effect
- Both fail= Pack 1-70°/Pack 2-50°
- Trim valve fail= Temp control for only that zone is lost
PACK P/B:
ON- Pack valve armed to open
- Pack valves close for: 1. Low pneumatic pressure 2. Pack overheat 3. Engine start 4. ENG FIRE P/B 5. DITCHING P/B
OFF- Valve closed
FAULT- 1. Valve disagreement
2. Pack outlet high temp
RAM AIR:
ON- Ram air inlet opens (^P below 1 psi)
OFF- Ram air inlet closed
HOT AIR P/B:
ON- Valve regulates hot air
OFF- Valve closes, Trim valves close, & fault circuit is reset
FAULT- Duct overheat, HOT AIR & TRIM valves close
APU BLEED:
ON- Armed, opens above 95%N & no leak detected in APU or left side of bleed duct
OFF- Closed
FAULT- BLEED LEAK
ENG ANTI-ICE P/B
ON- Valve opens if eng bleed air available (continuous IGN on automatically),(eng nacelle)
OFF- Closed
FAULT- Disagreement
Note: No electric pwr= fails open
PROBE/WINDOW HEAT P/B:
AUTO- On ground, low with 1 ENG running, high in flight, (TAT not heated on grnd)
ON- Probes & windows heated
DITCHING P/B:
ON- Closes:
1. Outflow valve (in auto only) 2. RAM air inlet 3. Avionics vent inlet & extract valves 4. Pack control valves 5. Forward cargo isolation valve (A319 & 587/588)
MODE SEL (CAB PRESS):
AUTO- 2 Cabin Pressure Controllers, Outflow valve is controlled by one at a time
- System automatically change CPC's: 1. Failure of active 2. 70 sec after landing 3. Selecting MAN for 10 sec then back to AUTO
MAN- MAN V/S CTL controls position of Outflow valve
FAULT: Failure of both CPC’s
LDG ELV:
AUTO- FMGS data used for pressurization
MANUAL- Landing elevation can be selected -2000 to 14,000 ft
APU MASTER SW:
ON- Blue ON lt
ECB (electronic control box) performs pwr up test
Air intake flap opens
Fuel isolation valve opens
AC pwrd APU fuel pump on (If not supplied by a wing pump)
APU PG on ECAM (EXT PWR or ENG GEN)
OFF- Manual shutdown sequence, ON lt out, 100% N -120 s cool down period (AVAIL lt out), Inlet flaps closes 7% rpm
FAULT- Auto shutdown:
1. Fire (emergency shutdown ground only) 2. Start/running malfunction (overspeed/underspeed, low oil press/high temp, high EGT...) 3. ECB (electronic control box) sensor fault
APU START P/B:
ON- ON lt, ECB sequences APU start:
1. Starter engaged 2. 7% N ignition supplied 3. 50% N starter & ign cuts out 4. 95% N (2sec's) AVAIL lt (ON lt out)
ENG BLEED P/B:
ON- Valve armed to open
Closes: 1. Low supply press 2. Overpressure 3. Bleed over temp (also wing anti-ice) 4. Bleed leak 5. APU bleed open 6. Start valve open 7. Fire P/B pressed
FAULT- 1. Overpressure
2. Bleed over temp (also wing anti-ice) 3. Bleed leak 4. APU bleed open & eng bleed not closed 5. Start valve open & eng bleed not closed
X BLEED SELECTOR:
SHUT- Valve closed
AUTO- Valve will open w/APU bleed being used
Close: 1. Eng bleed supplied(APU BLD OFF) 2. Bleed leaks 3. APU fire p/b
OPEN- Valve open
WING ANTI-ICE P/B:
ON- Valves open if press avail, slats 3, 4, 5. Can be tested on grnd (30 sec, than close & re-arm).
Note: Fail closed.
OFF- Closed
FAULT- 1. Disagreement
2. Low press 3. Leak 4. Ground test > 35 sec's
EMER EXIT LT SW:
ON- Emer lts, Exit signs, Exit markers (proximity markers).
Pwrd- DC SCHED ESS BUS or intrnl batts, Exit mrkrs-
intrnl batts only.
ARM- Emer lts, Exit signs, Exit markers if AC Bus 1 fails
Note: - internal batt's will pwr for 12 mins (charge if sw not on) - Emer lts & Exit signs auto on @ Cabin Alt 11300'
BLOWER & EXTRACT P/B:
AUTO- Both p/b’s: ON GRND- Before T/O pwr = OPEN config, CLOSED config if skin < 40°f
ON GRND/IN FLT- After T/O pwr = INTERMEDIATE config if skin > 90°f, than CLOSED (cooled)
OVRD- BLOWER= Air condition air added, CLOSED config, Blower fan OFF & Extract fan ON
EXTRACT= Air condition air added, CLOSED config, Blower fan & Extract fan ON
BOTH= Air condition added & vented overboard, Blower fan OFF & Extract fan ON
BLOWER FAULT- 1. Smoke Warning activated
2. Low Blower Press* 3. Duct overheat* 4. Computer pwr supply fail
EXTRACT FAULT- 1. Smoke Warning activated
2. Low Extract press* 3. Computer pwr supply fail Note: *External horn on ground
ENGINE MASTER 1 & 2:
ON- LP fuel valve opens
During an automatic start, the HP valve will open provided the ENG MODE selector is in IGN/START & 10-16% N2 (manual start= MAN START P/B on).
OFF- 1. Closes LP & HP fuel valves
2. Resets both FADEC (ECU) channels
FIRE / FAULT LIGHT:
FIRE - Repeater of ENG FIRE LT
FAULT- 1. START FAULT (Start valve no open, No N1 rotation, No light up, Hung start, Overtemp, Eng stall
2. Disagreement between HP valve & FADEC commanded position
ENG MODE SELECTOR:
CRANK- If N2 < 10% Start valve opens when MAN START P/B pressed
NORM- Continuous ignition both A&B igniters:
1. Engine anti ice is selected on 2. Take-off phase (TOGA/Flex power until 1500’) 3. Approach Idle selected (Slats extended) 4. In-flight sub idle or surge
