Lights & Switches 2018 Flashcards
Walk me through a normal engine start
What happens and when?
ENG 1 2 switch ON Begins automatic start sequence:
-Opens LP fuel valve
-Opens start valve & increases APU air (if APU being used)
-Energizes ignition (alternates between igniters each start)
-when N2 > 16% on the ground
-immediately in flight
-HP fuel valve opens
-when N2 > 22% on the ground
-when N2 > 15% in flight
-@ N2 > 50%
-start valve is closed
-Ignition is de-energized
-APU speed is returned to normal (if being used)
-Pack valves are re-opened after 30 second delay (unless other engine is
started)
During manual start sequence ( if ENG MAN START pb On)
-Energizes both igniters
-Opens LP and HP fuel valve
-@ N2 > 50%
-Start valve is closed
-Ignition is de-energized (if on the ground)
-APU speed is returned to normal (if APU being used)
What happens when you test the engine fire PB?
SQUIB & DICH illuminate ENGINE FIRE PB illuminate CRC MASTER WARNING ECAM engine page FIRE switches
What happens when you test the APU fire system
On DC power:
- SQUIB & DICH illuminate
- Half APU fire PB illuminate
On AC power:
- CRC
- SQUIB & DISCH illuminate
- APU Fire PB illuminate
- MASTER WARNING

What happens when you push the APU Fire PB?
- Silences the CRC
- Arms the SQUIB
- Closes APU bleed
- closes APU fuel valve
- turns off APU fuel pump
- deactivates APU gen
- closes crossbleed valve
What happens when you push the ENGINE FIRE PB?
- silences CRC
- arms the SQUIB
- closes hydraulic shutoff valve
- closes pack control flow valves
- closes LP fuel valve
- de-energizes FADEC
- closes bleed valve
