- What’s the default for lighting brightness after on ground power up?
Day Preset
- What happens when Vestibule Override, located under TSC Dimming, is selected?
Vestibule and dome lights extinguish.
- What lights aren’t tested during Annun Test?
APU FIRE light, fire handles, fuel control switches, red light in ELT switch panel, and passenger oxygen light.
- What happens when OVERRIDE pushbutton is selected?
Utility lights and side console flood lights illuminate.
- How many flashlights are in the cockpit?
Three: one (1) for captain, one (1) for flight observer and one (1) for copilot.
- When do No Smoking indicator signs in the cabin come on automatically?
During power up; if selected off, they come on when passenger masks are deployed either manually or automatically.
- Describe the function of Ramp light switch in baggage compartment.
It illuminates pylon lights for loading bags and possibly for maintenance related activities: one light shines out from under each pylon.
- Do utility lights in tail compartment need to be turned OFF prior to exiting the compartment?
No, they extinguish when tail compartment door is closed unless the switch in baggage compartment is also selected to ON.
- What’s the purpose of beacon light?
When illuminated, it alerts outside observers that something is powered. During flight, it functions as warning and recognition light.
- How would you know if nav or strobe light has failed?
There’s an amber fault light in light assembly: it illuminates for partial failure to indicate that servicing is required and flashes for complete fault which may affect dispatch.
- How many wing tip flood lights are there?
Two (2) LED lights on each wing tip: one shines forward and one shines downward.
- When do taxi lights automatically extinguish?
Gear retraction
- When is use of landing lights recommended?
Strongly encouraged for takeoff and landing and during any operations below 10,000’ or within 10 NM of airport.
- Where can you turn on wheel well lights?
Controlled from 2 places: one switch is inside and one outside. Inside: controlled from switch on Exterior Lights page of OHPTS. Outside: controlled from switch on Security / Gnd Svc panel labeled WHEEL WELL LTS. Note: wheel well doors must be open.
- There are a number of exterior evacuation lights provided to assist passengers while exiting airplane in the dark. Where are they located?
Three (3) overwing lights for each wing, two (2) underwing lights mounted on wing to body fairing, and a main entry door light.
