They are tested 1 hour before sunset and by the ME department

Where are navigation lights controlled from?
Navigation light control panel
List all statutory navigation lights, their colours and location?
Steaming ahead lights - white, up atop the main masts
Stern lights - white, deck level at the rear of the ship
Side lights - red on port side deck level. Green on starboard deck level
List all combinations of special operations lights
Not under command - 4 steady red lights
Replenishment at sea - 4 steady red lights with 2 steady white lights
Man over board - 4 flashing red lights
Where are the special operations lights operated from?
Navigational light control panel
List all other miscellaneous lights and their colours
Anchor lights - white, on top of the jack staffs
Masthead obstruction lights - red, on the main mast on port and starboard
How are the emergency navigation lights powered?
Powered by 2 series connected 12 V batteries mounted as close as possible to the light
Why is it important to switch on the emergency special operations lights before hoisting them?
Because the radars and aerials can induce a current in the wires
