Q

How will the direction of light change if it is moving from air into a glass block?

A

It will bend towards the normal as it is slowing down as it enters the glass block

8
Q

Describe the difference between primary and secondary colours.

A

Primary colours are the ones that your eyes detect, whereas secondary colours are made from mixing primary colours together

9
Q

Explain why light passing through a green filter appears green.

A

All other colours of light are absorbed, and only green light is allowed to pass through

Q

How can your eyes detect an object?

A

Light hits the photoreceptors at the back of your eye; this is turned into an electrical impulse that is sent along the optic nerve to the brain

16
Q

Is light-time time or distance?

A

Distance

17
Q

How fast does light travel?

A

300,000km/s

18
Q

Is the reflection in a mirror virtual or real?

A

VIRTUAl

19
Q

Is plane mirror strait or curvy

A

Strait

20
Q

The ray that hits the mirror from your ray box is called?

A

incident ray

21
Q

x

A

reflected ray

22
Q

Every surface realeases some(?)

A

light

23
Q

reflection of a smooth surface is called?

A

specualr reflection

24
Q

reflection of a rough surface is called?

A

diffuse scattering

25
Q

To form an image what do you need?

A

the rays from each part of the object have to reflect off an object in the same way in same angle

26
Q

If light changes direction what is this called through different mediums(material)?

A

refraction

27
Q

What is the lens called in your body?

A

convex or converging lens

28
Q

What is the point where all the rays meet in the lens called?

A

focus or focal point

29
Q

How can we see?

A

When you look at a tree, the immage of a tree is formed in your retina of your eyes. Light reflected off the tree goes throuh your pupil. The cornea(transparent part of the outer part of your eye)and the lens focus light onto your retina. The image is inverted(flipped over) at first but the brain sorts it out so it looks normal.

30
Q

how does the iris work?

A

Its a muscle that controls the size of your pupil.
