Light+sound! Flashcards
Retina
The back part of an eyeball where the light meets.
Refraction
The bending of light waves when they pass through a medium: Air into glass.
Pitch
The pitch is as high or low sound is: when the frequency of a sound wave is higher that means higher the pitch.
Lens
A lens is a special part of a camera or an eye where light is reflected into.
Amplitude
Amplitude is the length from the middle of the wave to the top or bottom.
Wave length
The wave length is the difference from one part of a wave to the same on the next.
Wave
A wave is the way that energy: sound or light moves through gas, solid, liquid.
Incident ray
The incident ray is the first ray shone to the medium
Cornea
Cornea is that the front of the eye
Longditudinal
A longitudinal wave is when the oscillations are parralel to their length.
Transverse wave
A transverse wave is a light wave. It is wgen the oscillation is 90 degrees to the direction of the wave.
Echo
An Echo is the reflected version of a sound wave. It is when a sound bounces back to the place of the sound it is coming from.
Convex lens
A convex lens is for people who long sighted. The convex lend converges the light to meet the retina.
Concave
Concave lens is for people who are short sighted. The concave lens diverges the light rays to the Retina.
Speed of sound
340 m per second
