What is a Distant signal?
A distant signal is placed some distance to the rear of a home signal and is used to give the driver an early indication of the aspect of signals at the station in advance.
What two indications can be displayed by a Distant signal?
Caution and Proceed
What is the meaning of a Distant signal when it displays Caution?
It means the driver must slow the train to a precautionary speed to allow the train to be safely stopped at the next signal if this signal displays STOP.
What is a Calling On signal?
A Calling On signal is fixed below a two position (light type) home signal and applies to the same track as the home signal immediately above it. It is used to permit a train to enter an occupied line.

Normal (extinguished) and Proceed (Yellow)
