Light Microscope Flashcards
What is the magnification of the eyepiece?
10x
How do you calculate total magnification?
Eyepiece magnification x objective magnification
On the objective lens, what does the 4x/0.1 mean?
4x = magnification 0.1 = numerical aperture
What is refraction?
light bends as it slows through mediums
How do you calculate refractive index?
n (refractive index) = c (speed of light in vacuum)/v (speed of light in given medium)
What is interpupillary distance?
distance between eyepieces.
How do you calculate HPD (high power objective diameter FOV)?
HPD = [LPD (low poer objective diameter FOV) X LPM (low power magnification)] / HPM (high power magnification)
Why is it called compound light microscope?
Uses at least two lenses to magnify the object
ocular lens and the objective lens
Memorize parts of microscope.
