Light energy test thingy Flashcards
Transverse Waves
The wave in which light travels in.
Light
A form of energy that travels in straight paths
Light Ray
The straight line that represents the path of light.
Reflection
Light bouncing off of an
object ex When light bounces off a surface, like a mirror or water.
Crest
The highest part of a transverse wave.
Trough (Troff)
The lowest part of a transverse wave.
Refraction
Light bending when it passes at an angle from one transparent medium to another.
The Electromagnetic Spectrum
The entire range of electromagnetic radiation (light).
Wavelength
The distance between two consecutive waves, usually measured crest to crest or trough to trough.
Transparent
A material or item that allows light to pass through it.
Opaque
A material that does NOT allow light to pass through it.
Translucent
A material or item that allows only some light to pass through
Sound
This occurs when matter vibrates.
Longitudinal (compressional) wave
The wave in which sound travels in.
GREAT JOB KEEP IT UP
ヾ(≧▽≦*)o
Compression
Part of the sound wave where the molecules are tightly packed together.
Rarefaction
Part of the sound wave where the molecules are farthest apart
Pitch
How high or low a sound is (think low and slow).
Frequency
The number of waves passing a given point in one second.
Amplitude
The intensity of SOUND.
