Light Energy Flashcards
Define light energy and explain how it travels as both a particle and a wave.
Light energy are electromagnetic waves and transversal
Describe the difference between reflection and refraction of light. Provide examples of each.
Reflection is when light is bounced off an object. Things with smooth and shiny surfaces like water and glass usually reflect light.
Refraction is the Bending of light or sound after travelling through an object.
An example of refraction is rainbows
Discuss the concepts of transparent, translucent, and opaque materials, providing examples.
Transparent objects are objects that allow light to easily pass through,
translucent objects allow some light but not all light to pass through creating not detailed shapes.
opaque objects are objects that do not allow any light through and cannot be seen through
Compare and contrast how light and sound energy travels.
Light energy are electromagnetic waves that travel in transverse waves
Sound energy are vibrations that travel in longitudinal waves
