Light Flashcards

1
Q

What is does it mean when a object is transparent.

A

Transparent objects are see through as light rays are able to pass through that material easily. E.g Windows, glass, glasses

Q

What does it mean when a object is translucent.

A

Translucent objects are blurry as some of the light rays are able to pass through but the other light rays are scattered. E.g frosted glass, wax paper and filter paper.

Q

What is total internal reflection

A

TIR is when light rays are reflected inside a medium. If the angle of incidence is under 40 degrees the light becomes trapped inside the medium.

Q

What is refraction

A

Refraction is when light rays enter two different mediums with different densities, slowing down or speeding up the light Ray, causing it to bend at the normal.

Q

What is the focal point

A

The vocal point is the point where the light rays converge or diverge when it passes through a lens or when it is reflected off a mirror.
