light Flashcards
WHAT IS LIGHT?
- a form of energy
- light travels in waves
- light doesn’t need matter to move.
HOW FAST DOES LIGHT TRAVEL?
up to 300,000 km/s
short wave lengths…
have high frequencys
long wave lengths…
have low frequencys
what is all light made up of?
The electromagnetic spectrum
Different type of waves. Ranked low to high?
radio waves
microwaves
infrared
visible light
ultra violet
x-rays
gamma rays
luminous objects -
produce light
non luminous objects -
reflect light hence why we can see them
transmitted
light passes through transparent objects
reflected
light bounces of objects
absorbed
objects take light energy and convert it to heat
Primary Colours?
Red, green and blue
law or reflection
Law of reflection states that, the angle of incidence (∠i) is always equal to the angle of reflection (∠r).
lateral inversion
looking at a plane mirror, and the and the writing appears backwards
concave mirrors
light rays converge infront of the mirror making the focal point in front. its a real image.
