Light Flashcards
What is luminous?
Something that gives out light.
What is opaque?
Materials that don’t transmit light
Why can you predict the size and shape of shadows?
Because light travels in straight lights
How fast does light travel through a vacuum?
300,000,000 m/s
What does the law of reflection say?
The angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection.
What happens when light goes into glass or water
Its refracted towards the normal and when it leaves it is refracted away from the normal
What do prisms do to make a continuous spectrum?
They disperse white light
How do filters and coloured objects subtract colours from white light?
By transmitting or reflecting the colour that they are and absorbing the rest.
What are the primary colours?
Red, green and blue
What are the secondary colours?
Magenta, cyan and yellow
What is long sighted and why does it happen?
If you are long sighted you can nit see close objects very clearly.
It happens because your eyeball may be too short ot your lens and cornea may not refract light enough.
What is short sighted and why does it happen?
Short sighted is where you can not see distant objects very clearly.
It happens because your eyeball may be too long, or your lens of the cornea may refract the light too much.
