Used to make shadows less dark

indoors : make shadows lighter
outdoors : dec. contrast between lit & shadowed
source : umbrella or reflector
placed at either sides of subject & above head
should be opposite to direction of key light
can be raised to subj.height
should be lower than key light

it is called rim light
used to give bright line on edge of subject
used to separate subject from background
used to give bright line on top or sides - hair or side
from top view add spot lamp , back to subj & opp to camera
from right view , add backlight above subject
Hair light..
is important at dark hair case use to separate hair from background placed behind subj. about 3 feet above it Angled downward , slightly forward strike top of head & shoulder
catchlight…..
lighting iris & brightening eye
Short light….
called narrow light
makes side of face turned away from camera
subject is directed toward key light
best choice for most people
slimming , sculpting , adding 3d qualities
subject face toward key light
makes side of face toward camera more shadow
makes side of face toward key light thinner
sutiable for low key or dark protraits
