Ligaments Flashcards
1
Q
anterior and posterior sternoclavicular ligament
A
prevents A/P translation of the medial clavicle
2
Q
Posterior lamina of Costoclavicular Ligament
A
- limits elevation of distal clavicle
- when taut, may inferiorly glide the medial clavicle on the manubrium
- resists medial movement of the clavicle, absorbing force that would otherwise be imposed on the sternoclavicular disc
3
Q
Anterior lamina of Cocstoclavicular Ligament
A
- limits elevation of lateral clavicle
- when taut, may inferiorly glide the medial clavicle on the manubrium
- limits superiorly directed forces of the SCM and sternohyoid muscles
4
Q
Interclavicular Ligament
A
- limits excessive depression of distal clavicle
- limits superior gliding of medial clavicle on manubrium
- pprotects brachial plexus and sublavian artery
