What is accountability and what does it mean?
You are accountable for your actions.When something goes wrong, your actions will be scrutinised by the law. After a rescue, and investigation will be carried out with the first thing being looked at is the actions of you. To make sure you are not vulnerable, always follow your training and listen carefully.

Control of substances hazardous to health 2002 (COSH)
Employers to control potential risks from substances that are hazardous to health. In a swimming pool more likely to come into contact with cleaning chemicals. Identifying risks will help you prevent harm, employer will put in place procedures. May include wearing protective equipment.
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and reaction of chemicals 2008 (REACH)
Requires the manufactures responsible for managing and understanding the risks enlightened with the use. and also ensure they have a high level of protection of health and the environment from the use of chemicals.
First Aid at Work 1981
Requires the employer to conduct a first aid needs assessment to make decisions such as the number of first aid boxes required, the number and levels of qualifications of their staff.
Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
Applies a wide range of manual handling activities such as ; lifting and lowering, pushing, pulling or carrying. The load may be innanimate such as a box or trolley or animate such as a person.
Essential to understand procedures. may be required to set up heavy equipment and in extreme cases may have to land a casualty when performing a water rescue.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE is to be supplied at the workplace wherever there are risks to health and safety.
Has to be properly assessed to ensure suitability.
Maintained and stored properly.
Provided with instructions on how to use safely and correctly.

Sign to be used where there are risks that has not been avoided or controlled. prohibition sign, warning sign, mandatory sign and emergency escape or first aid sign.
